Not ready to talk board games? Still working on your first project? Then take a look at the resources I’ve gathered for further learning.
Presentations & Talks
You Can Quote This! - A copy of the PowerPoint and supplemental material for the quoting talk I gave at GAMA 2024.
Board Game & Tabletop
Playing Card Specifications - Don’t know which size cards to use or what dimensions you need? This handy list from Making Playing Cards can help you out!
SVG Repo - A great place to find icons ready to use for prototyping. Also free to use for commercial work!
Print & Design
Beginner Mistakes When Designing For Print - If you’ve never designed for CYMK printing, there are some things you will need to consider or make sure your designer knows to do. A great overview for new print designers!
Data Merge in InDesign - If you are working with large card sets, it’s a must-learn InDesign skill for easily generating and iterating cards.
Project Manage-ment
Monday - Monday is an online and app-based project management service. It’s what I use for managing everything from new project milestones to current printings to shipping containers. Its cross-functionality with Slack, Gmail, and Google Docs makes it easy to get all your project details in one central location. It’s my favorite of the project management software options. Has a free trial and then is paid.
Notion - While I haven’t used it, it’s also a great option for project management software. Has a free option but additional functionality is paid.
Time & Date - The holy grail for building out timelines and estimating ready dates! Put in one date, tell it how many days/months forward you want to go, and see the resulting date.
